Ogilvy London | Cancer research UK | Ashtray to vase
|
New anti-smoking legislation came into effect in Britain in July 2007. Ogilvy's brief was, firstly, to encourage support for this environmentally-friendly
policy; and, secondly, to invite donations to Cancer Research UK.
Fortunately, ashtrays for public use had now become redundant. So, Ogilvy collected them in specially designed door-drop bags, and sent them off
to master craftsmen. The ashtrays were then transformed into unique flower vases. These were then placed for auction on eBay, with all the proceeds going
to Cancer Research UK.
The first vase sold for an impressive £86, with auctions continuing throughout 2008. |
