Carphone Warehouse is the leading UK mobile phone retailer, and a sponsor of The X Factor. The show is Europe's biggest TV singing
competition, so it seemed appropriate to echo the talent search concept in promotional advertising. An engaging website was created,
where people could audition for the ads by singing into their phones.
Judges rated each entry, with dozens of animated outcomes inflicted on contestants in response to their scores. Every week, the best
(and worst) auditions were selected. These became the Carphone Warehouse sponsorship ads, which flighted during The X Factor.
The website performed incredibly well - attracting some 1800 entries and over 150 000 votes. |
