MEC @ Digital NewFronts 2016
By MEC
Hosted in partnership with the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), this annual event for marketers delivers unparalleled opportunities to connect with both established and emerging content providers while bringing first looks of the latest in original digital programming.
The 2016 event featured a record two weeks of content from over 39 companies including major players like BuzzFeed, Hulu and YouTube, as well as new participants like NowThis, Playboy and Activision.
The similarities to the original TV Upfront format are not coincidental. The NewFronts are designed to educate and encourage marketers to evaluate digital programming and video opportunities through a similar lens to that of premium television content.
Although originally established to get Internet video distributers in front of marketers, this year’s slate of presenters featured more companies from across the media spectrum, including print media, TV, video game, and digital media native companies, underscoring the ongoing evolution across the development, programming, distribution and advertising of video-based digital content.
MEC gathered the key trends and takeaways that both illustrate the importance of the Digital NewFronts and set the stage for the year ahead.
