Spotlight On: Proximity
Location-based digital marketing is a unique mobile phenomenon that first gained traction with the introduction of the iPhone, which allowed users to share their location in return for more relevant content. The resulting gold rush of local data made it possible for brands to literally be where the customer is.

Facebook Suggested Video
Facebook joined the online video business race back in June 2014 by introducing view counting to its platform. At that time, one of Facebook’s biggest advantages was segmentation, however, audio was restricted in order that the newsfeed remained unaffected – a decision that media agencies accepted. A year later, Facebook is evolving its video model in order to activate sound and deliver a truly immersive video experience.

Spotlight On: Data Connectivity
The dream of turning big data into usable information is top of mind for marketers in today’s complex consumer environment. Fragmentation of the consumer experience only continues to increase as marketers try to grasp at any bit of data that will help them make sense of it all. It is overwhelming to say the least, and that is why so many marketers are looking to gain control over what seems to be a very chaotic explosion of data.

Apple Music: A “music revolution” or the default winner
The “one complete thought” that Jimmy Iovine spoke of at the launch of Apple Music couldn’t have been brought to life more poignantly than Daniel Ek’s “Oh, Ok”. This was the only comment that the Spotify CEO tweeted at WWDC to describe the launch of Apple Music (disclaimer: it has since been deleted). It is seemingly juvenile but actually is very suitable in the quest to predict what Apple Music means for the future of the music streaming industry and the advertising within it. Will it revolutionise, flop, or triumph by default (literally).

Instagram continues to show robust international growth, and according to Pew is the fourth largest social network in the US, sandwiched in between third-place Pinterest and fifth place Twitter.
